Tuesday, March 08, 2005 sorry to mister and missus parkins for robbing their perfectly good south park characters idea! posted by Ant | 3:24 PM | Friday, March 04, 2005 Haven't blogged for a long while and James is asleep so thought I'd take the opportunity to write a bit about how things are. He may wake up and shout for food at any time so blogging may be brought to a swift halt. Ben's away with my parents at the log cabin (see pictures). Apparently he's having a great time and has been swimming and to the beach and shopping and to the pub. I find it a bit disconcerting that my parents take him to the supermarket and tell me he was absolutely fine there, whereas that's something that Ant and I would find way too high maintenance with him. I'm sure he must be plied with chocolate all the way round, or maybe given a sedative. It's lovely having some peace and quiet and not having to race around doing lots of things with him, but it's also very strange not having him around. He's back tomorrow lunchtime so the mayhem will begin again then! James is doing great. Breastfeeding is going fantastically which I'm so so grateful about, and James is content and definitely getting enough food. Bea taught me how to feed lying down, which means that I can sleep while James feeds in the night, and therefore feel alive in the day. Compared to Ben, I've been out and about much sooner with James due to the fact that I've just needed to keep doing things with Ben like going to groups and going to see friends, and that's been really lovely. It's also had the effect of making it feel like James has been around a lot longer than he really has; I can't believe he's only 4 weeks old. Ant and I have enjoyed the time without Ben and have mangaged to spend some quality time together. Yesterday we went to the 3 Merry Lads for a gorgeous lunch, and then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing together. In the evening we went and did a Morrison's shop. James started crying half-way round and I had to walk around feeding him feeling a little exposed. Next time I'll remember to take the sling with me so that I can be more discreet (flippin heck, I've had a mind block, is it discreet or discrete? they both look strange to me. Must be a post-pregnancy thing. What a good excuse for poor spelling!) My sister and her fiance are arriving soon so that we can go bridesmaid dress shopping for me (actually, technically it's maid of honour dress shopping but that sounds so horrid). Kath and David are getting married in July which is v. exciting. Ben's going to be a pageboy, and there are 2 little bridesmaids, so I'm got my work cut out for me looking after them. I'm going now. I feel like I've wandered all over the place with my thoughts so I hope it's vaguely coherent. Love to you all. posted by Caroline | 11:25 AM | |
