Monday, September 27, 2004 helloooo, really very quick post cos really very busy day. update on the weekend: rob and abigail''s wedding was fab. lots of incredibly soppy looks from abigail, lovely prayer from vicar for children for them (!), brilliant hardcore speech from abigail's dad, lovely lovely speech from rob, very yummy cakes, not too much clearing up afterwards, ben stayed the day and night at matt and jo robinson's - his first sleepover at a mate's house which he loved! this will happen more often i feel! my birthday was a very busy day on which i felt very loved by lots and lots of people, especially my gorgeous husband. had breakfast with robinsons, cakes on devonshire green with sofa, barbecue at jen and fran's, wiggers round at ours. and now i'm back at work and it's fine and ben was fine at nursery this morning and i'm fed up of toilet training and we're taking a break from it and now my head's run out of ideas for things to write. must go and get ready for group and eat yogurt! posted by Caroline | 11:36 AM | Tuesday, September 21, 2004 Feeling pretty tired even though I went to bed at 9.30! Ben got sent home from nursery for bad behaviour - joke, he got sent home cos his cough was so bad that apparently he was retching so then I felt really bad for sending him. He had a better night than last night but was still hacking a lot. And he still woke up at 6.30. I just phoned Ant to see how they were both getting on. I had a chat with Ben and at the end I said to Ben that I loved him and he replied "I love you mum" which was the first time I've heard him say it. That's made my day 100% better. Short post, gotta go cos home visit at 1.30. posted by Caroline | 1:09 PM | Monday, September 20, 2004 Hello, I'm back at work now so let the blogging commence. Felt a bit sad about coming back to work cos it has been so lovely being off but it feels a lot better now i'm actually here. We had a bad night last night with Ben - he's got this awful hacking cough which kept me awake on and off all night and woke him up at 5.30am and, guess what, he didn't go back to sleep and kept coming into our room and telling me it was dark, or that he couldn't turn his light on. At one point I went in and prayed for him and told him that God would take away his cough and he said "yeah, take away Ben's cough" and, this probably sounds really obvious but a lightbulb went on in my head, I realised that he just accepted without question what I was saying, and that got me thinking about faith and about how I want to be like Ben and really know that I'm asking my and Ben's Daddy for Ben to be well and trust it will happen. He didn't stop coughing and I did start to feel disheartened but figured Ben wouldn't cos he doesn't know what it is to be disheartened(!) so I'm going to trust that it is happening. As I wrote that it felt quite hard to keep that trust. Ben cried again this morning at nursery which was a bit of a gutter, but I didn't feel as awful as I have on previous occasions. I think this was partly due to the fact that I felt extremely energised as I'd gone to sleep at 9.30pm and had slept through - this is a miracle as for the last few weeks my bladder has been waking me up at least twice in the night. When we were at Greenbelt I had to keep creeping out of the tent and weeing just outside and hoping noone was around. Work's been good this morning. I had my 9-18 months group which was good. It's so manic that the time passes incredibly quickly. There's a little boy in the group who's currently with a foster family and it's fantastic to see how much his language is progressing now he's in an environment which stimulates him. I love it that I have a job I enjoy so much and that's so rewarding, but I do also want it to be part of my worship to God so that even when it's not going so fantastically I don't get made miserable by it. There has been a bit of a crisis this morning at Sure Start. The coach taking families to Cannon Hall has broken down. Not with families on it, but it was supposed to be picking up another lot of families for the afternoon and now it can't until much later and a lot of the families are now hacked off with Sure Start. It takes so long to build trust with families and break down prejudices that anything like this happening takes ages to repair. Not good. I'm cleaning the kitchen tonight and doing ironing that has been sitting in a pile for at least 2 months - anyone noticed me looking a bit scruffy recently!
