for those who don't check thethingaboutit.com: maaaan - praise God! check this out:

Dear Ant & Caroline,
Thanks for your kind message and for the prayers of you and your friends....keep them coming...God seems to be listening! I just had this message from my cousin with the first positive news we have had in weeks.....

"Amazingly Mum seems much better, I popped in this morning and she was much brighter and had managed to sit up in bed by herself. She also actually called me by my name for the first time in weeks so fingers crossed."

our house-buyer, Liz Williams wrote an email to me telling me a few house-related details but then she's written about her aunt - here's that part of her email:

"I'm back in Liverpool every weekend at the moment as my aunt has a terminal brain tumour and things are progressing unbelievably fast. Only 6 weeks ago I was on holiday with her visiting family in America and we were all completely unaware there was anything wrong. Now she is unable to speak or swallow and is paralysed down one side...its so sad. I figure from what you have said that you are Christians, so please say a prayer that she doesn't suffer...thanks!"

so lets do better than that and pray for her healing - with God all things are possible! lets also pray for their family as this must be a really hard time for them. it's fantastic when God presents opportunities to pray for others like this - lets get on it!

it's been really strange but yesterday i felt really close to some kind of emotional breakdown. i mean, i don't know how close i was but i knew that i needed to just STOP. so i tried to take it as easy as possible; hung with andy marshall in the afternoon playing music and then had chinese and watch 4 episodes of alias in the evening with caroline - i feel almost normal today. the fact that ben's not sleeping because he's teething doesn't help! it's all due to the whole house situation - it's been something that's demanded more from me in such a short time that anything i can remember! at least it's slowed down now that things are moving forward. i'm still taking it easy today

i love my wife too :D

update on our house situation - we're sorted with our mortage! i went in today for a meeting with the mortgage advisor and i happened to get Michaela who we had last time - that was fantastic: because i knew her she gave us the figure we asked for based on our earnings and our credit check. i'm really thankful that i don't have to knock together official accounts because that would involve getting an accountant and could have taken ages!

W E H A V E A H O U S E ! ! !

God's really sorted us out and selling ours and buying this has all happened in a very short time (about a week!) so we need to pray for my sis Em and her hub Scott coz they are buying in cambridgeshire and it's not an easy ride for them - Scott's commuting every day at the moment - they need a house really soon. also for my cousin Char and her family coz they can't sell their house in high wycombe - nothing wrong with it, it's just that the market's bad at the moment.

here's a pic of the front of our new house. it's truly gorgeous! and here's the story (for those interested):

we were originally looking around walkley / upperthorpe / hillborough for a house and found a really nice one down the bottom of springvale road. we put in offers and got outbid (very common in sheffield) but not until after we'd put our house on the market as an incentive for the vendors to choose us (darn it!). we were pretty gutted but figured God had somewhere else for us (or may give us that house if the current bidder pulled out for some reason). anyway, we sold our house 4 days later to a really nice prof at sheffield uni called Liz - she's living with friends and was prepared to move at our convenience!

in the mean time we decided to look at other houses around sheffield as there wasn't anything suitable in those areas. we checked out a house in crookes for the same asking price but it was not that big for the $. then we went set a day up to view a house in norfolk park and a house in walkley (next door to the one we lost!!!). the norfolk park house (called 'moorland view' - ,my grandad started a bible collage called moorlands!) was utterly wonderful and was perfect in all requirements except it was in an area that we didn't want to move to. the vendor, Fran, was lovely too and we got on really well with her. we then popped to see some of our pals in norfolk park (gareth, lizzy, daisy, bumped into the robinsons, suzie) - they were great. later on we went to view the springvale road house - the estate agent turned up half an hour late and when he arrived, all the foreign students in the house didn't know we were coming so we couldn't get in (i found out today that they couldn't actually read their letters) - the place was also horrible: concrete at the back with stables that needed knocking down, no garden, nasty walls, grotty windows, etc. i atcually saw inside today and felt like the whole thing was exploitation of foreign students - really nasty - i'd hate to buy a house off someone like that!

well when we got home, we thought about what we'd seen and what we felt. norfolk park felt so peaceful and right where walkley (mainly that house experience) felt really dark and oppressive - we felt like God was giving us a HUGE contrast just to get a point across: move to norflok park!! we have since felt that our community is not location-based so this is not a problem at all! even the schools look great - especially considering they are nearly city centre. another thing was the peace we felt there - it was the same peace we felt when we came to see this house we're in now, and again it feels like a place of sanctuary for our friends and family. so we phoned Fran and asked if she wanted to sell to us for the asking price - she said, "i'd love to!" and then we got the house officially this week with saxton mee (after a nasty situation where they tried to get us bidding against someone else - Fran phoned them up and had a go at them for not telling her that we'd offered the asking price first! YAY!!!). we're just sorting out lodgers and we should be moving early september - so soon! it's really really fantastic and you're ALL welcome to visit :D

Check out the pics and info about the house here

praise the Lord - we've sold our house!!! Liz Williams (who bought it) is living with friends so she has no strings attached at all! she's also prepared to wait until we've found a house - that's just amazing!

i'm going to see the mortgage people next wednesday to see how much exactly we can borrow and then we'll have all we need to buy a house, and we'll be in a really good position. please pray for us so that we'll get the right house soon as we don't want to be looking for months!

thanks loads to everyone who helped get our house sorted over the last couple of weeks - you've done a fab job and it's really paid off!
